Political Activism as Leadership - Webinar 2

Get ready to harness your legislative and political power. You don’t have to be an elected official to be a political leader. In this session, we discuss the power that women have in electing pro-worker leaders. Women can exercise that power by coming together to volunteer, contributing to campaigns and showing up to vote. We cover the barriers women face when running for office and discuss how women can help each other overcome these obstacles. Finally, guest speakers Jacqui Carmona, political director of Florida Council 79, and Mary Blocker-Williams, Region 1 PEOPLE Chair at Council 79 in Florida, talk about how being active in politics has a direct connection to your life and your union contract.

"I enjoyed the way the webinar moved from discussing some of the challenges to highlighting some of the amazing and positive impacts being involved in politics has brought about and the knowledge that was shared regarding ways to get politically involved. I enjoyed the positive and enthusiasm with which the information was presented. I also enjoyed hearing the guest speakers."

"The ladies were very encouraging in simplifying involvement. I particularly appreciated the presenter commenting on the "many hats" we wear as concerned parents, environmentalist, etc. and how PEOPLE can connect us all as community."
